Brightspace Lumi Idea - Generating content module summaries

You can leverage D2L Lumi to generate summaries of Content modules and activities in both the New Content Experience (Lessons) and Classic Content Experience. When you generate a summary of a selected module or unit, D2L Lumi Summary provides you with three summary types to choose from: A summary written from thelearner perspective (I will...), A summary from the instructor perspective (We will...), or A summary written about the content module or unit (The module will...).

Brightspace Lumi Overview (AI Components for faculty)

D2L Lumi Pro for Brightspace consists of Lumi Question, and Lumi Idea, which allow you to generate quiz questions, assignment ideas, discussion ideas, and module content summaries suggestions using AI technology to improve your workflow efficiency. The AI generated material must be reviewed before inserted into your Brightspace course. Lumi Pro works with the following content items - web pages, assignment topics, discussion topics, quiz topics, videos, and most files (except PDFs).

Email: Changing your email address in Brightspace

The majority of SUNY campuses share one Brightspace instance. This provides students taking courses at more than one campus easy access to all of their courses. The email address in Brightspace is associated with the campus that created your account. However, this email address may no reflect the campus where you are taking your courses. This means that all of your email notifications sent from Brightspace courses will go to your prior email address. You have the ability to update your email.

Grades: Allowing Quizzes to exceed maximum score

This is an advanced use of the Grade book that allows a student to have the possibility of extra credit on a Quiz without using specifically designated extra credit questions.  In practice this is done by providing students with enough questions to potentially earn, for example, 105/100 on a Quiz.  This article presumes an already existing Quiz is being modified.  If a new Quiz is being created, some of these options may be set when the Quiz is initially linked to the Grade book.

Grades: Automatic Zero for Missing Submissions

A zero grade can be automatically entered in the gradebook for students who fail to submit an assignment or quiz by its due date. This feature requires a future due date. It is not retroactive. At the time of the due date, any missing submissions will receive a grade of zero. You still have the ability to manually override the zero should the work be submitted later.

The purpose of this document is to explain how to submit a student’s in progress quiz attempt.  A quiz can get stuck “In Progress” if a student closes their browser without submitting.  If the quiz access closes or the quiz timer runs out, a student may not be able to get back in to submit their work.  In such cases, it is usually easiest for the instructor to ‘force submit’ the quiz for the student.
