Overview
When signing into the system, you can choose to connect to an existing LinkedIn profile or to just start a new account in LinkedIn Learning. If you connect your existing LinkedIn profile, only your learning data and some profile information will be shared with SUNY Oswego. No other data from your LinkedIn profile will be accessible or shared. Please review the LinkedIn Learning Privacy Statement for more details.
Logging in for the first time?
LinkedIn Learning access requires that you have a LinkedIn account, which will be set up upon signing in for the first time. Users will be prompted with the option to link their SUNY Oswego LinkedIn Learning account to an existing LinkedIn Profile account.
Choosing to link your accounts is not required to use LinkedIn Learning with SUNY Oswego. If you choose to link the accounts, you will need to log in using your existing LinkedIn account password and then log in using your SUNY Oswego credentials. If you would like to sign in using your linked SUNY Oswego account, the best way is to add your SUNY Oswego email address to your existing LinkedIn account first. Here are instructions to manage your email address.
Log into LinkedIn Learning
Log in Troubleshooting
New SUNY Oswego users trying to link their existing LinkedIn account will need to enter their existing LinkedIn account password.
If you are having trouble logging in due to an invalid password/passphrase on your connected LinkedIn profile, you will need to reset your password/passphrase on your personal LinkedIn account on their password reset page. See the LinkedIn article for instructions on how to change your password/passphrase.
Please visit LinkedIn's page for login troubleshooting. You can use the chat session feature on the page if you cannot locate an answer to your question. See the LinkedIn Learning Customer Support Website for more information.
What happens when a user leaves SUNY Oswego?
Only active students, faculty, and staff have access to learning content. When users leave SUNY Oswego, their learning history will remain reportable by administrators, and users will no longer have access to SUNY Oswego's LinkedIn Learning account. Users who connected their LinkedIn profile with their LinkedIn Learning account can transfer activity from accounts. Please see the Switching Between LinkedIn Learning Accounts help page for more information.
Similarly, users will need to contact LinkedIn Learning directly if they have issues with LinkedIn syncs following leaving the university.
On any LinkedIn Learning or LinkedIn profile page click Contact Us or Start Chat for assistance. You may visit the LinkedIn Learning Customer Support Website for more information.
Transitioning LinkedIn Learning Account for Graduation
1. Linked Accounts (Oswego email already connected to LinkedIn profile)
-
If your Oswego.edu email is linked to an existing LinkedIn.com profile, your learning history is tied to your personal LinkedIn account.
-
When your Oswego email is deactivated after graduation/retirement, your courses, certificates, and progress remain in your personal LinkedIn profile.
-
Action needed: update your LinkedIn account's primary email address to your personal one (e.g., Gmail, Outlook) so you don't lose access to your profile and course records.
2. Unlinked Accounts (Oswego email used only for LinkedIn Learning, no LinkedIn.com profile)
-
If you used LinkedIn Learning only through Oswego, without linking it to a personal LinkedIn.com account, your course progress and certificates are stored only under your Oswego email.
-
Once the Oswego email is deactivated, direct access ends.
