Transferring Final Grades to myOswego

Overview

This guide walks you through the steps needed to successfully move student final grades from Brightspace to myOswego. Note: this guide assumes that you are utilizing a Grade Scheme. If you have not done so already, either go back and set up the Grade Scheme. Otherwise, you will need to convert the grades downloaded into their respective letter grade.

Instructions

Exporting Final Grades from Brightspace

  1. Login to Brightspace then select the desired course.
  2. On the course navigation bar, click on the Course Tools menu then select Grades.
    Course Tools menu. Grades is item 6.
  3. On the Enter Grades page, click on the Export button.

  4. On the Export Grades page,
    1. Export Options:
      1. Grade Values - select Grade Scheme.
        ""
      2. User Details - select Last Name, First Name, OSW_ID.
        ""
    2. Choose Grades to Export:
      1. Select either Final Calculated Grade or if used, Final Adjusted Grade
        ""
    3. Click the Export to Excel button.
      ""
  5. Click the Download button.
    ""

Formatting Final Grade File

  1. Open the file downloaded from the above Brightspace course.
  2. Insert four additional columns - Term Code, CRN, Last Attended Date and Comment.
  3. Enter in the Term Code - 4-digit year followed by 01-Spring, 02-Summer, 09-Fall, 12-Winter for each grade record.
  4. Enter in the CRN for each grade record.
  5. Using your course attendance records, insert the last date attended for any student where required.
  6. Leave the Comment column blank.

  7. Save the file.

Importing Final Grades to myOswego

  1. Login to myOswego and click on Faculty Services.
  2. Click on Faculty Grade Entry.
    ""
  3. Click on the Settings cog, which is located in the upper, right corner.
    ""
  4. Click on Import.

  5. Within the Import window,
    1. Click into the Browse box to open the files on your computer. Locate and select the formatted final grade file.
    2. Click the Upload button.
    3. Click the Continue button.
      ""
  6. In the Preview File screen,
    1. Select the My Spreadsheet has headers.
    2. Confirm that the file preview is as expected.
    3. Click the Continue button.
      ""
  7. In the Map Columns screen,
    1. Columns A, B, & C are mapped to Other.
    2. Column D is mapped to Final Grade.
    3. Column E is mapped to Student ID.
    4. Column F is mapped to Term Code.
    5. Column G is mapped to CRN.
    6. Column H is mapped to Last Attended Date.
    7. Column I is mapped to Narrative Grade Comment.

    8. Click the Continue button.
  8. On the Validate screen, confirm that all grades were imported. Click the Continue button.

  9. Click the Finish button.
