Announcements - Restricted to subset of students

Overview

Brightspace allows announcements to be visible to a specific group of students. This ability may be useful in merged or cross-listed courses.

Instructions

  1. Log-in to Brightspace then select the desired course.
  2. On the course homepage, click/select the New Announcement link located in the Slim Announcements Widget.

  3. Complete Headline and Content areas.
  4. Complete Availability settings, if desired.
  5. Insert Attachments, if desired.
  6. In Additional Release Conditions area, click/select the Create and Attach button.

  7. In the Create a New Release Condition,
    1. Condition Type area, use the Select Condition Type menu to scroll to Roster then select either 
      • Group Enrollment - for group communication
      • Section Enrollment - for one section in merged courses.

    2. Condition Details area, select the desired group or section.

    3. Click/select the Create button.

  8. Click/select the Publish button.
