Overview
Communicating with your class using the Brightspace email function allows you to provide your students with important information. Note that a course must be open for students to receive emails. Furthermore, if a student attended another SUNY institution before coming to Oswego, they have to request that Brightspace forward their email to their Oswego.edu address. If this is not done, transfers will find their emails going back to their original institution.
Instructions
- From Course Tools, select the Roster link.

- Scroll to the bottom of the page and update the number of students’ per page to view all students on one page. Within the roster’s header row, click on the selection box to email your entire class. Note, if your course has more than 200 students only the first 200 will be selected. You will need to follow these steps to email the remaining students.

- Return to the top of the page, in the roster's header click on the select all box.

- Click the Email link icon.
- In the Compose New Message box, type your communication in the Body area.
- Files can be uploaded in the Attachments area.
- Click the Send button.
