Overview
This article provides steps on managing your Google storage for Google Drive, Photos and Gmail to help comply with the Google Storage Limits policy. Please review the policy to determine what your storage quota is set to.

Instructions
Please follow the steps below to manage storage in your SUNY Oswego LakerApps account. This includes emails and files in Gmail, Drive, and Photos. The Google Storage Limits policy outlines what your quota is set to.

Determine your usage

Free up space, looking for emails and files taking up the most space

Empty your trash as Google retains emails and files in the trash for 30 days which still count towards your quota
You should also review your Shared Drives, those listed under "Shared Drives" in the Google Drive left navigation making sure they also comply with the storage limits policy (linked to above).
- Delete entire shared drives that are no longer needed in consultation with collaborators.
- Delete shared drive files no longer needed in consultation with collaborators.
- Delete shared drive files you may have copied from your own Google Drive to a shared drive. If a file resides in 2 locations, it will consume twice the storage space.
- Make sure to empty your trash in order for your quota to update.
Tips
You can use the following links to see your biggest emails and biggest files that may help you reduce your storage. Remember to empty the trash after deleting as it counts towards your quota.
