Employee Printing

Service Description

Currently, employee printing is done using a "mapped" printing system.  Employee computers have to be "mapped" to their department's specific printers in order to print to them.  Most departments are also using a secure method of printing where documents are released at the printer when the user is ready for the physical copy.

A new printing system is being deployed across all SUNY campuses similar to the existing model, except employees will be able to print to the cloud and then release their document at any printer designated for employee printing. At Oswego, we are referring to this new printing system as OswegoPrint.  There are a small number of departments currently using this new model.  Students use a similar system called LakerPrint.

Cost

Under the "mapped" printing model, departments pay for their own paper.  Non-academic departments pay for the printers, maintenance and toner.

Under OswegoPrint, administrative departments pay for their own paper and academic departments will continue their existing process for paper.  As departments are moved over to OswegoPrint, the costs of the printers, maintenance, and toner will be paid for by the College.
