How to Check Your Voicemail

Overview

You may be expecting a message on your office phone while away from your desk for an extended time. You can access your voicemail from any phone remotely.

Instructions

Calling from same voicemail extension.

  1. Hit the messages button on your Cisco phone, or dial extension 3383 from your Cisco phone.
  2. Both options will take you directly to the voicemail box for your extension.
  3. This will ask you to enter your PIN, followed by the pound key.
  4. This will be a 6 or 7-digit pin that is chosen by the end user.
  5. When building a new voicemail box, the default temporary pin is 124578.
  6. The end user will enter this temporary pin when prompted to.
  7. It will then tell them to enter a new pin of their choice.
  8. Enter the pin of their choice, but this has to be 6 or 7 digits, and can not be repetitive in nature. So it can’t be 111222 or 7777777 for example.
  9. If we reset the temporary voicemail PIN for the end user, we will set it to a 6 or 7-digit PIN of our choice.
  10. The end user will be prompted to enter the temporary PIN. Once entered, that pin will expire, and they’ll be told to enter a new pin of their choice.
  11. The end user will hear various prompts after they enter their new PIN.
  12. They can record a name or a personal greeting. This should all be done for the standard greeting.
  13. They can use something besides the standard greeting for special circumstances but typically should use the standard greeting.

Calling from another extension or phone number.

  1. When calling from another extension or phone number, the end user will call 315 312 3383, this will connect them to voicemail.
  2. They will be prompted to enter their ID followed by #. At this time they will enter their 4-digit extension, followed by #.
  3. They will then be prompted to enter their PIN, followed by #. At this time they will enter their 6 or 7-digit voicemail PIN, then #.
  4. This will connect them to their voicemail box. They can listen to messages, change greetings, or make any other changes that they would normally be able to make.
