Overview
Once a year, a call goes out to academic departments to request faculty computer replacements (FCR). The call typically goes out at the beginning of December. For 2024, the call will go out Dec. 2. This program is intended to replace a tenure track faculty member’s primary machine. In addition, it will cover the primary machine of an academic departments' full time support staff, including administrative assistants. It is not intended to cover multiple machines, lab machines, student workstations, nor adjunct and visiting assistant professor machines.
Eligibility Criteria
For those that qualify for a new computer, laptops are highly encouraged for the most mobility.
Please note the following:
- An academic department is considered to be in CLAS, SCMA, SOB, or SOE.
- Computers to be replaced must have been purchased prior to 9/1/2020 (please contact Inventory Control at inventory@oswego.edu if unsure).
- The SUNY Tag of the replacement machine is required.
- The replacement plan will cover the cost of the replacement machine with the standard set of software. The department will assume any additional costs.
- Upon the install of a new/used computer, the old one will be removed from the department.
- Fulfillment will be prioritized based on the age of the machine and history of incidents and will occur over the course of six months.
- Given the nature of teaching and working remotely, laptops are preferred over desktops.
- Requests are due at the close of business on December 13, 2024.
Submission Requests
When the call is open, each of the models below will be available to click on to submit a request. Laptops are preferred for mobility and remote work purposes.

- Dell Latitude E5440 14" Ultrabook
- Dell Optiplex 7010 Desktop
For those needing a device beyond the campus standard models listed above, a non-standard computer request is available. Through this request, your needs will be reviewed with our staff. Depending on the needs, some departmental funds may be required. When the call is open, the link below will be available to click on to submit a request.

After the call has closed, each request will be reviewed to ensure it meets the eligibility criteria listed above. After a request has been reviewed, an email will be sent to the requestor of the status. Please note fulfillment of approved requests is about a semester-long process. Another email will be sent at a later time when the machine is ready to be installed.
