Overview
This article outlines instructions for visitors who wish to connect to the Oswego-Guest (in the academic buildings) or the Oswego-Guest-RES (in the residential buildings) networks.
- Visitor Access - Visitors to our campus can connect to the campus WiFi with no SUNY Oswego credentials or prior setup necessary and will have access for 24 hours until reactivation is needed.
- Sponsored - Guest speakers, conference attendees, invited vendors and contractors will log in with pre-arranged login credentials. Please consult with your SUNY Oswego faculty or staff sponsor for login information. Access is 5 days default/365 days maximum.
Instructions
Android Phone/Apple iPhone
- To access the Oswego-Guest wireless network, visitors will need to open the settings on their electronic devices and select the Oswego-Guest option.
- The next prompt will bring the guest to the “Visitor Wireless Access” Log In Screen.
- Guest speakers, conference attendees, invited vendors and contractors will need to select "Sponsored Access"
- Visitors will need to select “Visitor Access”.
- Visitors will then need to enter information in the highlighted fields (first name, last name, email address, cell phone number).
- Visitors should then select the appropriate reason for their visit. Conference guests can select “meeting or other”.
- Visitors will need to agree to the terms and conditions and click “Register”.
- Visitors should now be connected to the Oswego-Guest wireless network.
- Connection will only be active for 24 hours and will need to be reactivated every 24 hours.
Windows
- Connect to the Oswego-Guest wireless network (Academic buildings) or Oswego-Guest-RES (Residence halls).
- Launch a web browser. If necessary type a web address into the browser. This will force a redirect to the login page.
- The next prompt will bring the guest to the “Visitor Wireless Access” Log In Screen.
- Sponsored guests will select "Sponsored" and log in using the username and password provided in their email.
- Visitors will select “Visitor Access”.
- Visitors will then need to enter information in the highlighted fields (first
name, last name, email address, cell phone number).
- Click the Register button. You are now connected!
Mac
- Connect to the Oswego-Guest wireless network (Academic buildings) or Oswego-Guest-RES (Residence halls).
- Choose Sponsored Access:
- Log in to the page with the credentials provided to you:
- Click the box to agree to the terms and conditions of the network:
- Then click Continue to connect to the network:
Note: If an Authenticating to network “Oswego-Secure/Oswego-Secure-RES” certificate dialog box appears. Click Continue.
- You are now connected!
- Visitors should now be connected to the Oswego-Guest wireless network.
- Connection will only be active for 24 hours and will need to be reactivated every 24 hours.
Note: This network has the following limitations:
- These connections will function well with low bandwidth activities such as checking email and general Web surfing.
- It will allow web-based Internet access only (port 80 & 443) and is not recommended for secure communications.
- High bandwidth connections such as streaming video and audio will have severely degraded performance. It cannot be used to stream videos over Netflix, etc.
