Overview
This article is related to the changes made in Minitab starting in January 2022.
Instructions
As of January 1st 2022, the Minitab licensing model has changed. The license will switch from a license code model to a named user model where you authenticate using your SUNY Oswego email address and password to gain access to the product.
In this change, licenses are shared across all SUNY campuses. Anyone that needs to use Minitab (faculty, staff, and students) will need to request a license through the SUNY Oswego Help Desk (see links below). That request will then go to SUNY to fulfill. You will receive an email when your request has been completed.
Once granted access to a license, you can go to minitab.com, click on “My Account” and log in using your SUNY Oswego email address and password. You will then be able to use the web-based version of Minitab or download the client version. As of June 2021, there is only a Windows client available to download. A Mac client is no longer available.
Minitab is still available to use through the Citrix virtual apps site, but uses the new named user model. You will still need to request a license to use it.
For those that have been using Minitab Express, it will no longer be supported by Minitab starting with version 20.
If you are a faculty member that will be using Minitab with your classes, you may request that students in your classes receive access to a license by providing the course and section number using the link below. Any students that are added to your class after your request has been submitted must submit their own individual request (link below). You do not have to submit the request again for the class.
Due to the shared nature of licenses across SUNY, CTS will need to reclaim student licenses at the end of each semester. At this time, employee licenses will not be reclaimed.
