Overview
This article assists you in uninstalling Cisco AnyConnect even if it seems to have been deleted. Only being able to install part of the Cisco AnyConnect package usually means that your Mac thinks it still has Cisco AnyConnect installed. This can happen if you trash the items in the Cisco folder instead of using the Uninstall AnyConnect program.
Instructions
If you have administrator rights on your Mac, you can run the uninstall command in Terminal.
1. Open the "Terminal" app on your Mac. You can find the app in the following ways:
- Using Spotlight Search, type "Terminal" to find that app.
- It can also be located in Applications > Utilities.
2. Run the following command:
sudo /opt/cisco/vpn/bin/vpn_uninstall.sh
3. If that command succeeds in removing Cisco AnyConnect, then start the installer again.
If that command doesn't work because it can't find that uninstall program,
1. Run the following command in Terminal:
sudo pkgutil --forget com.cisco.pkg.anyconnect.vpn
2. Try to install Cisco AnyConnect again.
If needed, you can re-download the VPN client at www.oswego.edu/facstaff or https://www.oswego.edu/cts/licensed-software-downloads#cisco
