How to Install and Run the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client on ChromeOS Devices

Overview

The following instructions outline how to use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client on ChromeBooks and ChromeBoxes.

Instructions

1) On your ChromeOS device, open the Chrome browser and find Cisco AnyConnect in Chrome WebStore.

2) Click Add to Chrome.

3) Select Add app to begin the installation.

4) After the installation is complete, click on the circle icon in the ChromeOS taskbar and scroll down until you see the Cisco AnyConnect app. Click on the icon to open the app.

5) When the app is opened for the first time, the following message will appear. You will need to wait until the initialization process is complete. It should only take a few minutes.

6) Once the initialization process is complete, select Add New Connection. In the Name field, enter SUNY Oswego VPN Network. In the Server Address field, enter vpn.oswego.edu/facstaff. Select Save Changes when you are finished.

7) In the bottom right corner of the screen, click the WiFi symbol and select VPN.

8) Select SUNY Oswego VPN Network from the list.

9) After selecting SUNY Oswego VPN Network from the list, you will be prompted to enter a username and password. At this point, enter your Laker NetID and your current password. Click Submit when you are finished.

10) Once you have successfully entered your credentials, you will be prompted with the following messages. Select Accept and Close, respectively.

11) You should now be connected to the SUNY Oswego VPN network!
