Changing your email address in Brightspace

Summary

The majority of SUNY campuses share one Brightspace instance. This provides students taking courses at more than one campus easy access to all of their courses. The email address in Brightspace is associated with the campus that created your account. However, this email address may no reflect the campus where you are taking your courses. This means that all of your email notifications sent from Brightspace courses will go to your prior email address. You have the ability to update your email.

The majority of SUNY campuses share one Brightspace instance. This provides students taking courses at more than one campus easy access to all of their courses. The email address in Brightspace is associated with the campus that created your account. However, this email address may no reflect the campus where you are taking your courses. This means that all of your email notifications sent from Brightspace courses will go to your prior email address.

You have the ability to update your email address in Brightspace. This article explains the process.

Instructions

  1. Log-in to Brightspace.
  2. Locate the OSW- Brightspace System Email Address widget, which is located on the Campus Home page.
    The OSW- Brightspace System Email Address widget display your name, Global ID, Role, and Email.
  3. Click on the SUNY Online Help Desk link (https://sunyonline.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/1985/Portal/Home/).
  4. Click the Submit a Help Ticket button.

  5. Click the Request Service button.

  6. Complete the LMS Support Request form:
    1. Short Description: Email Address change
    2. Description: use the information in the OSW- Brightspace System Email Address. Provide your name, Global ID, and your Oswego email address.
    3. Pick Your Campus: select Oswego
    4. Your name
    5. Your email address
    6. Verification Code: click the I'm not a robot box
