Overview
This article outlines instructions on how to use a Verizon hotspot (MiFi) device that has been loaned to you by CTS.
Instructions
- Hold the power button down on the hotspot for about two seconds and then let go. In a little bit, the device's display will light up with a "MiFi" logo on it and then settle on a screen that will say "Wi-Fi-ON" with "Menu" and "Help" buttons. At this point, the hotspot/MiFi is ready for connections.
- In the top left of the WiFi powered-on screen, look at the number of bars you have indicating the strength of the cellular signal. You may need to move the hotspot/MiFi to different locations to get a stronger signal. This is IMPORTANT as the weaker the signal, the slower the connection.
- On the device you would like to use such as your laptop, go to your wireless networks and then choose the one that starts with "Verizon-MiFi....." If it doesn't appear, give it a couple of minutes for your device to re-scan your available wireless networks.
- Once connected, you will be prompted for a password. Use the password typed on the label of the bag the hotspot/MiFi came in.
- You should be connected and can start using the Internet.
